Tesia is an industry leader as a clearinghouse and in advanced technology, but it’s people are the ones who cultivate an unrivaled relationship between payer and provider. The result is an active role in the evolution of the dental industry.
Tesia Senior Account Manager and EDI expert, Eric Kirnbauer, is the chair of the Dental Caucus for X12 which develops and pursues e-commerce for the dental industry while maintaining ethical and HIPAA standards to the fullest. The most recent X12 meeting was held in Seattle, Washington.
X12.org describes themselves as: chartered by the American National Standards Institute for more than 35 years, develops and maintains EDI standards and XML schemas which drive business processes globally. X12's diverse membership includes technologists and business process experts in health care, insurance, transportation, finance, government, supply chain, and other industries.
“We work with all the stakeholders in the industry to help improve it,” says Kirnbauer. “Tesia is trying to be proactive in pushing X12 in dental needs efficiently forward.”
One of the ongoing focal points for X12 is the revision of ASC X12 5010, the current HIPAA standard that is used to transmit insurance claims.
“Tesia is continuing to be involved in transactions that are being worked on in the industry like 5010,” says Kirnbauer. “It’s vital to us that the dental industry continues to evolve in a way that fights against fraud and abuse.”
Also noted on X12.org: Members meet to regularly to develop and maintain EDI standards that streamline and facilitate consistent electronic interchange of business transactions, such as order placement and processing, shipping and receiving information, invoicing, payment and cash application data. With more than 320 transaction standards available for use, X12 standards can be used to conduct nearly every facet of business-to-business operations.
